Russia is to open borders with 9 more countries in November
Thanks to the increase of vaccinated people, countries are beginning to open borders. Compliance with all restrictive measures related to the pandemic makes it possible to restore tourism all over the world, including Russia.
As on October 2021, Russia opened borders and resumed flights with 69 countries. The Russian Headquarters on preventing COVID-19 spread announced that since November 9th 2021 flight connections between Russia and 9 more countries would be resumed on a mutual basis.
List of countries to be opened: Bahamas, Iran, Netherlands, Norway, Oman, Slovenia, Tunisia, Sweden, Thailand.
Please pay attention to the resumption of the issuance of tourist visas in each country. All information is published on the websites of embassies and consulates of the Russian Federation in these countries. Foreigners who are allowed to enter Russia for tourist purposes, before their arrival to Russia, including those vaccinated, must present a negative result from a COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before their arrival in Russia. Foreign travellers must also fill out an arrival application form provided by their airline or upon arrival in Russia.
There are still restrictions related to the COVID-19. It is compulsory to wear masks in public places (theatres, museums, restaurants, public transport) and keep a social distance. Some Russian regions obligate to show QR codes to visit public places. From 15 November, QR codes are introduced in the Primorye region.
Citizens of the CIS countries arriving on the territory of the Russian Federation need to download a special application.
Also, it is mandatory for all foreigners, including vaccinated ones, to get the PCR test before departure from Russia.
Everything changes every day and, it is better to find out all the updated info from Intourist employees before booking a tour to a particular region of Russia. The QR code can be obtained by taking a PCR test in Russian laboratories. It will be valid for three days.
